Okay, but why are the women's premium scrubs $14 more?
We get asked this one every now and then.
Why does Women's Premium cost $14 more than Unisex, when they look pretty similar on the rack? Same print. Similar pockets. Both built to get you through a big shift.
Fair question. Here's the honest answer.
It starts with the fabric
Women's Premium is 97% cotton, 3% Spandex, at 160 GSM.
Unisex Basics is 100% cotton, at 145 GSM.
100% cotton sounds like the win, we know. But that bit of Spandex changes a lot. It gives the fabric stretch, helps it hold its shape through a long shift, and lets us cut a fit that actually follows your body instead of just hanging off it.
Slightly less cotton. A lot more going on.
Different fit, different job
Women's Premium is our OG fit. The one that built Scrub Turkey.
The stretch lets us tailor it close to the body without it ever feeling restrictive. It's flattering and comfortable with no compromise.
As we grew, plenty of you told us you wanted something looser and more universal. That's how Unisex Basics came about. Our unisex is 100% cotton, it has no stretch, and is a longer, relaxed cut built to suit a much wider range of shapes and sizes.
Neither fit is better. They're built for different bodies and different preferences.
Want tailored, with a bit of stretch? Premium's yours.
Want relaxed and easy? Basics has you covered.
Then there's the unglamorous bit. Production runs.
We make a lot more Unisex Basics than Women's Premium. Bigger runs mean better manufacturing efficiency and better fabric pricing. Women's Premium is made in much smaller batches, spread across way more prints, sizes and styles. Smaller runs cost more per garment. That's just how manufacturing works.
So it's never really just about the pockets
Two scrubs can look almost identical from the outside. Same prints. Similar pockets. Similar price range, give or take.
But behind the scenes there's fabric weight, fabric composition, Spandex, patterning, construction and production volume, all doing their own thing. Similar on the outside doesn't mean the same underneath.
And yeah, $14 adds up
One pair, no dramas. A whole department? That $14 stacks up fast.
